feel like I’ve worked very hard to have my relationship with my older sister be good but then every now and again she will use a tone or make what is probably an innocent comment and I can literally only think that there isn’t a single other person in the world who can hurt me like this and it isn’t *fair*
I think it’s time for us to all collectively return to the library. Get a card, go to a club meeting, volunteer on an off day, rent some equipment. You don’t even have to read a book. But since the digital world is rapidly becoming a subscription-only hellscape requiring a criminal amount of private personal information to use even CASUALLY, the library has become our last safe haven to just exist with information present and not have our labour or information exploited for money.
Today (June 26, 2023) is the 20th anniversary of Lawrence v. Texas, the most important Supreme Court case in gay history. It finally ruled that consensual sodomy cannot be a crime and all state laws criminalizing it are invalid.
People don’t realize how recent it was that cops could arrest you solely for having gay sex, in the privacy of your own bedroom. It was slowly decriminalized state by state, but like 1/3 of all states still had those laws in place until 2003.
It didn’t get nearly as much fanfare and recognition at the time as the 2015 decision that legalized gay marriage. But I think it established a far more crucial right.
Spent this week on making a bunch of faux oldschool anime screencaps. Had a blast making these, I’m especially happy with the background in the third one. I’ll probably keep making these, so look forward to more of these in the future!
I read somewhere that “When you choose a life partner you’re choosing your eating companion for about 20,000 meals, your travel companion for about 70 vacations, your retirement friend, career therapist, & someone whose day you’ll hear about 18,000 times” and I really can’t stress this enough.
Reblogging things I like feels a lot more goblinesque than upvoting ever did. The upvotes felt like “hmm yes, I approve *golf claps*” while reblogging feels like furtively staring at something before shoving it in your mouth and scurrying back underneath the nearest piece of furniture.
Which isn’t to say that I don’t like it. But I definitely find myself going “maybe I shouldn’t reblog this because I’ve already reblogged a bunch of things today and I don’t want to look like I don’t have a life,” I say as I close the app and reopen it like one of those little automatic box toys with the switches.
